Welcoming your little one is a magical experience but it’s essential to take care of yourself too. Here’s a friendly guide to postnatal checkups and tips for feeling good:
When to check-in
- First 24 hours: Your healthcare provider will monitor any bleeding, your blood pressure and your overall well-being.
- Days 7–14: If you are feeling feverish or experiencing any spotting don’t hesitate to seek help right away.
- In approximately six weeks, let’s ensure you’re healing well and discuss your mood as well as family planning whenever you’re ready.
Your feelings matter
It’s normal to experience tears, laughter and a mix of emotions after having a baby. If you need someone to talk to, a comforting voice or a friendly conversation, please don't hesitate to reach out. You are not alone.
Little acts of self-care
- Gentle stretches or deep breathing exercises
- Healthy snacks and staying hydrated
- Short “me” breaks, whether it’s enjoying a song, sipping a cup of tea or doing anything that brings you comfort
